INVISIBLE HEROES

The Covid-19 pandemic let us to isolate ourselves from one another, and the only time we come together(from our windows or six feet apart), is when we cheer at 7pm for the healthcare workers- doctors, nurses, first responders- who are risking their lives to save ours. But they are not the only heroes. There is a group of minorities who are risking their lives to provide for us, to feed us, to make our lives more comfortable and sane. They are essential heroes who are not being praised enough: transit workers, grocery cashiers, food delivery drivers, postal workers.

To commemorate the invisible heroes, I've created a series of prints inspired by Jean Michael Basquiat, who reflected his art by portraying minorities as warriors and saints with crowns and halos.
